GTA (Grand Theft Auto) series is one of the most famous and cherished video games in the world. The last GTA tittle, GTA V, was launched in September,2013. After years of waiting and rumors, new tittle GTA 6 is launching soon. Rockstar Gaming had initially announced its launching date, May 2, 2025, but later it got delayed and now expected to be launched in May, 2026. Rockstar Gaming said that they need more time to polish the game and want to make sure that it meets the high expectations of players.

Setting: Back to Vice City with a Modern Twist

The most exciting thing about GTA 6 is that it will bring players back to Vice City, Rockstar’s version of Miami. But unlike the 1980s version of Vice City (2002), GTA 6 will reportedly take place in a modern-day Vice City with a more realistic urban environment. In 2022, some leaked videos about GTA 6 appeared on social media which were later confirmed by Rockstar Gaming. These videos showed some parts of the city, including downtown streets, beaches, and suburban neighborhoods.

GTA 6 will not be limited to just the cityscape. It will include different environments like countryside, swamps and possibly tropical islands inspired by the Caribbean. These extra areas will make the game’s world much larger than GTA V’s Los Santos. Rockstar Gaming wants to make the game’s world feel alive and constantly evolving, not static like older GTA games. They are planning to add new places and missions through online updates even after the game comes out.

Main Characters: Lucia & Jason – A Crime Duo

For the first time in GTA’s history, GTA 6 will feature a female main character named Lucia, along with a male counterpart, Jason. This duo seems to be inspired by real-life criminal couple Bonnie and Clyde, who were famous for robberies and outlaw life. Lucia and Jason will work together in big crimes like robberies, heists and risky missions.

Leaked gameplay showed the character-switching mechanism in GTA 6 similar to GTA V.  It means that GTA 6 will let you switch between Lucia and Jason during the game depending on the mission or your choice, just like how GTA V let you switch between Trevor, Michael, and Franklin. Having Lucia as a main playable character is being praised for bringing much-needed diversity to the GTA universe because in the past, GTA’s lead characters were almost always male.

Graphics and Technology: A Big Leap Forward

Rockstar is using its latest RAGE game engine (newest and most powerful games-making software) in GTA 6’s development. It will make the game look more realistic than ever before. The game will feature improved lightening, beautiful weather effects, and highly detailed environment that will fully use the power of PS 5, Xbox series X|S and high-end PCs.

Rockstar wants players to experience seamless open world with no loading screens in GTA 6. This will be possible due to the SSD technology – super-fast storage drives that can load the game data instantly. Modern consoles and PCs are using this technology for smoother gaming. This means that you can move from streets to inside buildings, or switch between characters- Lucia and Jason, without any lag.

Final Thoughts

Overall, GTA 6 is expected to be an absolute banger with beautiful graphics a fresh story and more. However, the constant delays faced by the fans is stirring up loss of interest in players. The game that was first announced in December 2023 has still not seen daylight yet and as time passes, we can only hope to see an end to the constant delays. I for sure am much excited and am eagerly anticipating my first look at the game.
